Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Trailer Locks and Loads

Activision and Infinity Ward stormed the internet like a terrorist compound earlier today when they released the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trailer. The newest installment in the long-running first-person shooter franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the fourth game with the “Modern Warfare” title, and is called an “epic reimagining” of the series, which I guess is how they excuse just calling it Call of Duty: Modern Warfare instead of something halfway imaginative. Check out the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trailer and official description below:

Prepare to go dark, Modern Warfare® is back!

The stakes have never been higher as players take on the role of lethal Tier One operators in a heart-racing saga that will affect the global balance of power. Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® engulfs fans in an incredibly raw, gritty, provocative narrative that brings unrivaled intensity and shines a light on the changing nature of modern war. Developed by the studio that started it all, Infinity Ward delivers an epic reimagining of the iconic Modern Warfare series from the ground up.

In the visceral and dramatic single-player story campaign, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare pushes boundaries and breaks rules the way only Modern Warfare can. Players will engage in breathtaking covert operations alongside a diverse cast of international special forces throughout iconic European cities and volatile expanses of the Middle East.

And the story doesn’t end there.

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, players will be thrust into an immersive narrative spanning the entire game. Players can experience the ultimate online playground with classic multiplayer or squad-up and play cooperatively in a collection of elite operations, accessible to all skill levels.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare arrives October 25th, 2019.

Joking and lazy titles aside, I really enjoyed the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trailer and the game looks sensational. The graphics are outstanding, and based on what they’ve shown of the gameplay, it’ll be as fun as the best of its predecessors. I used to like the Call of Duty games, but I lost interest when they shifted into sci-fi. I’m glad they’ve come back, and I look forward to trying out Modern Warfare. The description hits all the right notes too, promising that the new game “pushes boundaries and breaks rules.” Alongside the enjoyment inherent in shooting bad guys and blowing up enemy vehicles, the Modern Warfare series has had its share of disturbing gameplay and imagery, from the detonation of a nuclear weapon in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to a horrifying airport massacre in Modern Warfare 2 (in which the player is forced to take part). The high cost of war as a theme is one of the more striking aspects of the series, and it sounds like that will continue in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. There will also be the requisite multiplayer mode, which is super popular but doesn’t interest me; I assume there’ll be a zombie mode too, as those seem to have become a staple of the franchise. It sounds like fans will be happy with this one, and the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trailer is a nice piece of hype.
